The Method Actors - Commotion (1981)
Pitchfork recently declared the Method Actors”s reissue Best Old Music, but the review is kind of thin on information. Basically, the Athens, GA., band were contemporaries with R.E.M., the B-52’s and Pylon, and their music alternates between scrappy guitar-driven postpunk (see “Do The Method”) and leaner Pylon-like punk-funk, as on “Commotion”. I can dig it, even if an old review pegged them “the most pretentious band since creation.”
Athens, Ga. post punk!
This is my cousin’s band! Awesome!

Pretty decent description except that the B-52’s had moved to New York by the time The Method Actors were doing...
