owl love

This weekend started early. Wednesday is the new friday in Paris. We went to a foot bridge over the Seine were all the Parisians hang out and drink. It was really fun and we made friends with a Parisian named Pierre (i know, so stereotypical) who I think has taken a liking to me based on his text messages, that I have rudely ignored.

Thursday Night we attempted to go to Sacre Cour for the sunset but were too late. So we toured the surrounding souvenir shops, then headed to the Moulin Rouge area. Visited a few sex shops, which was hilarious and disgusting at the same time. You should really check out porn from the 1920’s if you get the chance (no, not really, fat women peeing is not hott). Then we went to the Erotic Museum, which was more of the same. I had a hard time believing some of the “artifacts” were real, but they tried. The museum was not disturbing until you got to the traveling exhibition which was Japonese Erotic “Art.” I could not look at most of the stuff because it was so disturbingly disgusting, and it featured women being sexually tortured. Ew.

Friday I went to Epernay with some other people who decided to stay in Paris this weekend. We tasted champagne and went on a tour of Moet. I have a new respect for champagne now that I have had something other than Andre (gross). Friday Night I went to a fair in Paris and rode this huge ferris wheel and you could see everything from it. Then we rode another fair/carny style ride, that simulated being on acid I am pretty sure. It was the best 4 euro spent so far though.

Saturday I went to Paris’ largest flea market and made several purchases. It was one of those things where you thought “oh, this is only 9 euro, I will buy it,” but then ended up doing that several other times and spending too much money on junk. I did buy a hooka for 15 euro though, so hit me up if you are interested. It is very small but the guy let us smoke out of one just like it before we bought it and it was really good for being so small and so cheap. Then we met up with fellow UGA student Lauren Fisher. She just finished studying abroad in Montpellier. We went to the catacombs and then she took us to 40 watt-esque club that night. Actually the whigs played there earlier this month along with some other WUOG-core bands. Ended the night at the same foot bridge from Wednesday and were harassed by local high schoolers.

Today I saw the finally of the Tour de France on the Champs-Elysees!
